The Faults That Ruptured in Twin California Quakes Are Very, Very Weird, Geologists Say.

Right-angle ruptures

Here's where things get interesting: The 7.1-magnitude earthquake rattled a fault within the Little Lake fault zone — cracks in this spot near Ridgecrest tend to run in the northwest-southeast direction.

"The earthquake on Thursday [July 4] was more complex. And part of that smaller event happened on an unmapped fault that trends NE-SW. This is very interesting geologically, said Michele Cooke, a geoscientist at the University of Massachusetts - Amherst. "We don't have a lot of earthquakes in our record that show simultaneous slip on two perpendicular faults."

>Little Lake

I knew that sounded familiar.

Seconding this as notable

As with the November 11 2018 earthquake, it's important for us to track the geological information around weird events. 11/11/18 was unusual for both the seismic signature and marker date. This CA quake series is unusual for both its strength (not implausible but as the strongest in CA in 20 years, rare) and location (directly under the China Lake property speculated to be a significant cabal location.) So we want to make sure we understand the geology of this fault zone.

Starkville Mayor Lynn Spruill confirmed to the Starkville Daily News that Lake Little, 18, died sometime Saturday after being transported to a hospital in Memphis.

She is the daughter of Ward 3 Alderman David Little and his wife Pattie Little.

University of Mississippi spokesperson Rod Guajardo said in a statement that a single-engine plane affiliated with Civil Air Patrol was performing “touch and go” takeoffs and landings when it crashed Saturday around 3:15 p.m. near the 17th tee box at the Ole Miss Golf Course.
