Peter Hansen says he’s ‘learnt a lot’ while in jail for child sex abuse

A former Labor party branch president convicted of sexually abusing poor children in Asian countries says he was “chastened” by their victim statements.

A former ALP branch president says he purposely sexually exploited underage boys because they were from poor Asian countries and that he’s experienced “19th century physical conditions” while in NSW jails, a court has heard.

Peter Hansen, 63, of Cabramatta, appeared in the NSW District Court on Tuesday after pleading guilty to more than 30 offences, including nine counts of having sexual intercourse with children overseas and producing child pornography.
