FinFisher: Romania, October Raid in Germany, Coincidence?

German Made State Malware Company FinFisher Raided

They are suspected of having exported state malware without the required authorization.

FinFisher advertises its state malware as “complete IT intrusion portfolio”

Variants of the FinFisher suite have been found in dictatorships like Ethiopia and Bahrain, or more recently again in Egypt.

In summer 2017 a FinFisher sample was discovered in Turkey.

The authors of the criminal complaint assume that FinFisher is developed and produced in Munich.

Customs Investigation Bureau and Public Prosecutors however take the accusations of criminal charges seriously enough to search 15 business premises and private apartments in Munich and Romania over a period of three days

FinFisher is a spyware product manufactured by the Gamma Group, a British company

According to FinFisher's promotional materials, the spyware can be "used to access target systems, giving full access to stored information with the ability to take control of the target system's functions to the point of capturing encrypted data and communications."
